It was 6:30pm when I messaged my friends to be on time. As I reached near kashivishwanath, i found that traffic is being diverted to the polo ground. I was unable to identify why and was starring at the empty road ahead which was blocked. Seeing this, a traffic police man answered me that it is due to vadodara Carnival festival while the other one whistled me to move ahead quickly. Without thinking much, I started my bike - as there is a problem of tuning and battery is not working..:P
Story begins now, I could not see the road as it was so full of the vehicles. Some how, I managed to travel till next cross roads in about 15 min!!! (it is hardly half a kilometer!!!) from where I needed to take a left turn and moving on the periphery of polo ground I had to come to the other side of the road -which was closed. In this whole exercise, it had already taken 45 min. which could have taken hardly 5 min. if the road was not closed.
School students were dancing and singing on the roads and there were many trucks probably it was like a huge rally. Swarnim Gujarat and vadodara carnival posters were put almost everywhere. For the first time in my life, I had no time to appreciate such a carnival thing. My cell was showing time 7:15 and I remembered my messaged of "Be On Time". I barely noticed anything about the road festival. How can anyone appreciate when in the evening, at the peak traffic hour the roads are closed and when the main road(4 lane) traffic is diverted to 2 lane road after which it becomes only a single lane road with vehicles coming from both the sides and no restriction or alternate arrangements for the buses and trucks?!!!
It was already 7:25pm and I had only 35 min left with me. Before I start playing the game, I felt I was already smashed by VMSS - Vadodara Mahanagar Seva(!!!) Sadan...Jai hind...
